Name
Same or Different: Designing Visual Prompts for Discourse
Date & Time
Saturday, June 30, 2018, 11:15 AM - 12:45 PM
Description
The "Same or Different" discourse prompt has gained popularity as a means for students to explore visual models of foundational concepts. In this prompt, two images, ideas, or methods are presented and students are asked simply, "What is different?" and "What is the same?" This session moves the Same/Different structure across content areas as students make connections between two presented methods, and guides teachers to the process of designing their own. Grab a seat with us, and you'll: Take part in a model Same/Different activity; See and explore sample prompts; Examine the design process for creating a prompt; Draft/create original prompts using Google Slides/Drawing for use in an upcoming lesson.
