Speaker Bio
I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii. I earned my Bachelors of Art in American Studies and Philosophy and master's in Education from University of Hawaii at Manoa. During my university years, I was an AmeriCorp Outreach Coordinator for a local non-profit organization that supported and mentored orphans and at-risk foster youths from ages 4-24. Meanwhile, I found my passion in Education through a philosophy class named p4c (philosophy for children), a philosophical pedagogy that allows educators and students to create an intellectually safe community of inquiry. After a few years of elementary classroom teaching in Hawaii, I moved to Princeton, New Jersey to further my career in STEAM/Technology Education and Curriculum Design. I have taught elementary and middle school computing class and coached robotics and Science Olympiad. In 2015, I moved to the Bay Area and have been taking the role of the lead and founding intro and AP CS Principles teacher. Currently, I am the Educational Technology Specialist and Coach in Santa Clara.
