Name
Screencasting to Create Reflective, Metacognitive Learning Experiences
Date & Time
Sunday, October 7, 2018, 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM
Description
Screencasts are videos in which a person narrates over information on a computer screen. Many teachers are creating screencasts for flipped/blended learning. However, screencasts also serve other purposes in the classroom...especially when they are student-centered! Join me in this session as we explore how students can create screencasts/videos using Screencastify, Seesaw and other tools to show their understanding of class content, to reflect upon work they have completed, and to explore their learning/growth in the classroom. Ideas and activities that will be presented include creating screencasts with regard to reading comprehension or analysis, writing skills, webbing/concept mapping, speaking and listening skills, sketchnoting, comparing and contrasting work, explaining notes, examining exemplar work, and so much more! The ideas in this session have been completed in the classroom by classroom teachers. For each idea, assignment templates, sample products, and examples will be presented so that participants can leave with ideas they can immediately implement in their classrooms. Join me as we explore screencasting in new ways!
