Name
Digital Portfolios to Empower Students
Date & Time
Friday, July 20, 2018, 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM
Description
The value of having an online portfolio is multi-faceted. If done right, you will increase your visibility to job seekers, create a positive impression, and showcase your technical skills and talents. It is important that you keep your portfolio current, relevant, user-friendly and professional. Portfolios can be a great way to encourage deeper learning. Having students create a digital portfolio tends to result in greater pride when showcasing their projects. According to David Geurin, Principal and author of Future Driven, your online presence will replace the traditional resume. “According to a recent Forbes article, 56 percent of all hiring managers are more impressed by a candidate’s online portfolio than any other personal branding tool.” Considering the positive ramifications of having a digital portfolio, this session will highlight projects that can be added to a digital portfolio and student examples will be shared. It will address strategies that were used throughout the semester to help students continue to grow their sites and showcase their best work.
