Dido Balla, NBPS Student Academic Coordinator A passionate Educator and Entrepreneur, Dido graduated with a Master’s of Science in Secondary Education from the John Hopkins University School of Education. As a Teach For America Corps Member, he taught English in Miami for four years, before teaching ESOL, International Baccalaureate, and International Relations at North Broward Preparatory School. Throughout his career, Dido has earned multiple awards for his work in the classroom such as the Governor's Shine Award For Inspirational Teachers in 2013, "Un Maestro Especial Award" for outstanding commitment to education in 2014, and the Soaring Eagle Award in recognition of outstanding teaching, leadership, and commitment in 2017. Dido currently works as a Student Services Coordinator at North Broward Prep, and his focus is on supporting students’ development through a holistic approach that taps into students’ emotional as well as cognitive intelligence. In addition, Dido is a soccer coach at North Broward Prep, and he regularly works as a Residential Assistant in the dorms. As an experienced MindUp trainer, Dido has positively impacted hundreds of educators and thousands of students in the areas of positive psychology, mindful awareness, social and emotional learning, as well as neuroscience.
