Marcus grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Purdue University. After graduation, Marcus was hired as an ELA teacher at Benton Central High School. After 5 years there, Marcus moved-on to a teaching opportunity at Creston Middle School. In 2007, Marcus and his wife, Carrie, set roots in West Lafayette.
Marcus served as the Library and Instructional Technology Specialist for the Rossville Consolidated School District in Rossville, Indiana for 2 years, and is now the Coordinator of Digital Learning for Twin Lakes School Corporation. His wife, Carrie, is the ELL Coordinator for the Tippecanoe School Corporation.
Marcus and Carrie have been married since 2006 and have a 9 year old daughter, named Nola. They also have a dog named Walter.
In his professional life, Marcus is passionate about educational technology, student engagement, and teacher leadership. He is a Google Level 1 and 2 Certified Educator and he is also a Google Trainer. He is a member of the EdTech Heroes PLN, eLeadNWI, IGNITE Lafayette Regional E-Learning Conference board member, ICE board member, and is a member of The 411 Vodcast available on YouTube.
His interests include: supporting Tottenham Hotspur, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Purdue Boilermakers. He enjoys running marathons and half-marathons, and playing fantasy sports. He is also an aspiring triathlete.
