With the abundance of information and knowledge at our student's fingertips, the inquiry-based learning teaching model is making a resurgence amongst educators around the world. Mr. MacKenzie will walk you through several inquiry models beginning with a teacher directed framework and moving towards a student directed process. The focus of this session will be on the Free Inquiry stage where student agency in inquiry is at its highest. Mr. MacKenzie will share his Inquiry Proposal framework where students in his classes plan and pitch their Free Inquiry unit. Helping students plan their unit using the tenets of Understanding by Design, tracking and keeping workflow organized and at your fingertips, and sharing learning with an authentic audience will be presented. Many student examples will be shared throughout the workshop as well as resources for teacher use. During this workshop, we will focus on the using Google Drive to save, share, edit and collaborate on inquiry projects.
