Speaker Bio
A third generation teacher, Jen De Lisi-Hall has been an educator since 1999. Currently the English Department Chairperson in Irvington, New York, Jen has been a middle school ELA teacher, a high school English teacher, and an instructional coach for grades K-12. Named one of Westchester County’s “A+ Teachers,” she has been integrally involved in multifarious district- and building-level committees to develop and implement new curriculum, instruction, assessment, and systems initiatives.
Although primarily interested in adolescent literacy, Jen’s practice shifted inexorably when she became a mother, which inspired her to bring the ownership, self-direction, individuality, and joy of early childhood to all students’ daily learning. Jen is also passionate about redefining existing paradigms to allow children to appreciate cognitive dissonance and failure as a form of feedback.
