Speaker Bio
I found education as a second career about 15 years ago and I haven’t looked back. I love teaching and learning and can’t imagine a more rewarding life. I am currently working on my Ph. D. in Educational Psychology with an Instructional Technology emphasis. My research interests include teacher preparation, motivation, and the use of simulations in learning for both teacher education and students with special needs.
Prior to beginning my Ph. D., I was the Coordinator of Innovation and Learner Engagement for a large K-12 district in Southern California. I was responsible for managing the Learning Management System, Google Apps for Education Domain including Chromebooks, 1:1 tablet programs, and multiple other instructional technology programs that were used in the district. I have a Bachelor’s in Visual and Multimedia Communication, a Master’s in Educational Technology, and a Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching. I am also a Google Certified Educator and Google for Education Certified Trainer, Microsoft Innovative Educator, Apple Academy graduate and a Leading Edge Certified Educator.
The most important fact about me is that I am a mother of two fabulous young men. When I am not teaching or learning, I read, hike, cook, play video games, enjoy time with my friends and geek out on all the ways to use technology in the classroom.
