Description
Education leaders often try to apply principles of business leadership in schools… but what works best in business is rapidly changing - and the needs of schools are unique and varied. How can school leaders adapt to implement the best of what’s working for leaders in other fields - and make the most of it in the context of an educational institution? How can teacher leaders, principals, and superintendents learn from the success of high functioning collaborative organizations like Google and Facebook? This session explores answers to these questions, with anecdotes, examples, and data collected from the facilitator’s own work with these organizations - and with innovative schools around the world. This is supported by additional research from experts like Jeff Jarvis, Lazlo Boch, and Eric Schmit - and from leaders as varied as George Washington, Carter Cast, and Brene Brown. The session’s prompt and discussion format allows participants to process their own learning, with many resources available for follow up and action after the event.
