Aside from his ongoing involvement with the IB as a workshop leader, J. Rafael Angel collaborated in the design and standardization of the Teacher Support Materials for the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) Next Chapter, and is part of the MYP Language Acquisition Curriculum Review. He is the author of 3 of the IB-endorsed MYP Spanish books in the series By Concept, published by Hodder Education. His IB-endorsed concept-based book for IB Spanish Ab Initio will be published in March 2019. His articles on Approaches to Teaching and Learning skills in virtual environments have been published in the International Journal of Continuing Engineering Education and Life-Long Learning in 2013 and 2015. He holds a BA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, an MA in Linguistics from the University of Guadalajara; and an MA in Education with a focus on Approaches to Teaching and Learning from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). He is certified by Lynn Erickson’s Institute as a Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction (CBCI) trainer and consultant, and is part of the CBCI specialist team in the Lynn Erickson and Lois Lanning CBCI Training Institute. He believes in empowering students to become effective communicators, and ethical information creators… not just consumers.
