Lauren Smith is a 2nd grade English language arts and social studies teacher. She teaches at Whiteside Elementary in Lubbock, Texas. Smith holds a degree of Bachelor of Sciences Multidisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Special Education from Texas Tech University. Smith has taken on many roles within her school and community. Smith serves as the Whiteside Campus Technology Leader and 2nd grade Team Leader. She is a campus coach for U.I.L and Destination Imagination. Also, Smith has partnered with the TechTeach Program of Texas Tech University to mentor teacher candidates. At a district level, Smith is a Content Focus Presenter serving in this capacity for the past 3 years. She has been recognized as a Lubbock ISD Level 5 Value Added Educator. Within her community, she leads other educators as the President of the Lubbock Educators Association. Through her presidential work, she represents over 1,200 members from Lubbock. Also, Smith is the 2nd Vice President and Membership Chairman for the Alpha Kappa chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. At a state level, Smith is the co-chairman of TORCH, a Texas State Teachers Association Early Career Educator group, that supports the work of Early Career Educators across the state of Texas. On a National spectrum, Smith belongs to the Delta Beta Sigma National Board of Regents which focuses on teaching the virtues of tolerance, philanthropy, scholarship, social poise and citizenship to high school women. Smith is a very passionate educator that is involved at local, state, and national levels.
