Katie began her teaching career, studying at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand. At University she learned that integrating culture into lessons and her classroom are a very important part of making her students feel ownership and a part of the classroom experience. Her very first teaching position was in Long Lake 58 First Nation in Longlac, Ontario at Migizi Wasizin Elementary School. Her 15 years of teaching experience ranges from the Far North (Cat Lake, Slate Falls, Ontario) to the Far South (Tuatapere, Southland, New Zealand). She has a passion for experience based learning and utilizing technology in the classroom. Katie has a masters degree in educational leadership and is a Google Certified Trainer. She has taught most grades from Kindergarten through to Grade 8.
