Travel Information
Cape Town
Cape Town takes its name from the term “Cape of Good Hope”, rounded for the first time in 1488 by the Portuguese explorer Bartholomew Diaz. Steeped in a rich history, the city is a cultural melting pot influenced by Xhosa, Zulu and other African tribes from the north as well as Indonesian, French, Dutch, British, and German settlers. The majestic Table Mountain, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, overlooks the inner city and harbour. In and around the city are numerous wineries, magnificent mountains, and a stunning coast lined with sparkling white sandy beaches.
