Manchester, CT

A suburb 15 minutes east of Hartford, Manchester (pop. 58,000) is perhaps best known as the site of the Thanksgiving Day Road Race, which attracts about 15,000 runners each year. The 5-mile race starts in Downtown Manchester, which is the historic commercial center of town. Its broad Main Street and quaint side streets are lined with turn-of-the-century brick buildings that are home to generations of businesses. It is truly “A City of Village Charm.” Historic Downtown Manchester is a vibrant, mixed-use commercial district of retail, office, and residential life. Thanks to a number of town organizations, artistic contributors, and the Imagine Main Street campaign, the area has become even more thriving and exciting than ever before.
