Join us at Google, London for a one day training event exclusively for Geography Teachers. During the day we will be looking at Google Tools for use in the Geography Classroom, including:

  • Google My Maps - We will explore how to upload your own data into new layers onto Google Maps and share the maps with other users, which can be an ideal way for students to easily display fieldwork results.
  • Google Forms - how to collect live data, both for questionnaires and quizzes - during the training we will create a self marking map skills assessment for use back in school.
  • Google Sheets - Dealing with Geographic Data in Google Sheets, including the use of Add-Ons and Extensions to make data handing easier for teachers and students.
  • Google Earth and Tour Builder - The new web based Google Earth with Voyager opens up the possibilities for students to explore the globe and Tour Builder allows you to create your own map based tours for use in lessons.
  • Google Expeditions - We will look at how you can use the huge bank of resources in Google Expeditions, from Augmented Reality Earthquakes to 360 diagrams of volcanoes.
  • Google Tour Creator - How to build your own 360 tours, drawing images from StreetView and your own images to create tours specific to your school and your syllabus. You can view a Rivers Fielwork example here.
  • Google Arts and Culture - We will look at using some of the Themes in Arts and Cultute - such as Beyond the Map and National Parks
  • Google in Practice – We will look at how Godolphin and Latymer, a West London Girls’ School, has been making use of Google Sites with the help of their drone in Geography lessons.
