Grovetown High School is the largest of the five high schools in the suburban Columbia County School District which is the 16th largest district in Georgia. Grovetown High School opened in 2009 and now currently serves over 1930 students. Due to the relocation of the Army Cyber Command from Virginia to nearby Ft. Gordon, Georgia, Grovetown High School’s population includes over 200 military dependent students and that number is expected to continue to increase as more Cyber Command employees relocate to our area.
There is a strong military presence in the Grovetown area because many of the troops that work on Ft. Gordon live in our district for the high quality public schools.
Grovetown High School just completed a three year grant through the National Math and Science Initiative that greatly increased Advanced Placement offerings to their students. Since the NMSI grant implementation at Grovetown High beginning in 2014-15 school year, the number of successful AP math and science exams has increased by an astonishing 200% - easily surpassing the national average. For the 2017-2018 school year, all five Columbia County High Schools are included in a new three year $2.7 million NMSI grant to further boost Advanced Placement offerings and performance for all of our students. Grovetown High has been at the forefront of preparing students to be college and career ready, and they make an ideal setting to host the Peach State Summit.
