Lubbock High School is one of five high schools in Lubbock, TX. The doors to the school were first opened in 1891 with fifteen pupils. The first school district was formed in 1907 and had a ten mile radius which included the town of Lubbock.
 The construction of the present high school building was begun in 1930. The School Board appropriated $650,000 for the new building on 19th street. The contractor depleted the $650,000 before the building was completed. However, because he refused to compromise on the workmanship or materials in the new school, the contractor sold his family’s oil fields in East Texas to complete the building. He went broke and never built another building after the building’s completion in 1931.
 
In the summer of 1999, Lubbock High School was admitted to the International Baccalaureate Program, and they just celebrated their 25th anniversary of the Lubbock Exemplary Academic Program (LEAP), one of the state’s most successful academic magnet programs. They consistently have several National Merit Scholars this included six for the 2014-15 school year. There are currently over 2,000 students and 125 teachers at the campus.

  • The wind center currently houses 170 rare and fully restored windmills spread across 28 acres and is the largest windmill museum in the world. A 6,000-square-foot “Legacy of the Wind” mural is inside the building and depicts the past, present and future of the windmill.
Silent Wings Museum
  • A museum that preserves and promotes the history of the World War II Glider Pilots.
Texas Tech University 
  • A Big 12 university that was established in 1923 with around 38,000 students. The university shares its campus with the Texas Tech Health Science Center, making it the only campus in Texas to house an undergraduate university, law school, and medical school at the same location.

Lubbock High School is located at 2004-19th Street. If traveling on I-27 from the South, Exit US-62 (19th Street). Turn left on 19th Street.
 
If traveling on I-27 from the North, Exit US-62 (19th Street). Turn right on 19th Street.
 
There is parking on the East and West side of the building, and the conference will be on the East side of the building.
