Shenzhen is home to more than 14 million people. This dynamic and still growing city has something to offer everyone. From an electronics mall to a painting village to world-class restaurants, Shenzhen’s entertainment scene provides a wonderful spectrum of diversity.

 

Nestled in the southwestern corner of Shenzen, lies Shekou, home to Shekou International School. Shekou, which means “Snake’s Mouth” (a reference to the delta of the Pearl River), is a vibrant expatriate community with a small town feel. Life in Shenzhen is more affordable that most other large Chinese cities, with one of the better living environments in China as well. Have a cup of coffee at Starbucks and you will hear multiple languages being spoken or mosey on down to Old Shekou for a foot massage or a bit of shopping. Shekou is located on the South China Sea and is just a short ferry ride from Hong Kong.

From Shenzhen International and Domestic Airport
Shenzhen airport to Shekou is a simple 20 minute ride. If you are going straight to your hotel, make sure you get a ‘taxi card’ with the address of the hotel in Chinese. Taxis are very reasonably priced, and if you get a meter taxi, you can see exactly what you should pay for the ride.

 

From Hong Kong International Airport
Ferry - The direct ferry service from Hong Kong International Airport to Shekou is a short and convenient 30 minute ride that lands you in a 5 minute walking distance of Level 5. After landing in Hong Kong do not pass through immigration but rather follow the signs for ‘China Mainland Ferry’. A full schedule of departures can be found here. Cost is approximately 240 HKD
