Caprock High School is located in Amarillo, Texas in Potter, County which is part of the Texas Panhandle. Caprock is one of four high schools in the Amarillo Independent School District and classified as a 5A school by the UIL. Caprock was built in 1964 and celebrated its 50th graduating class in 2014. 
About Amarillo Independent School District
The Amarillo Independent School District began in 1889.  It is now the 39th largest school district in the state of Texas and the largest in the Panhandle serving around 33,000 students.  The school district is located within two counties, Potter and Randall with the largest population in Potter County.  The district is comprised of 55 campuses which includes 4 high schools, 2 alternative schools, 12 middle schools and 37 elementary schools. Amarillo ISD is one of the largest employers in Amarillo.

Amarillo is a city of farming, ranching and oil.  We’re also a proud region for the Pantex Plant and Bell Helicopter.  Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University are located within minutes for continuing education for our students.  Our city has many of the entertaining features of larger cities such as American Quarter Horse Heritage Center & Museum, Amarillo Botanical Gardens, Palo Duro Canyon, Don Harrington Discovery Center, Cadillac Ranch, The Gallaries of Sunset Center, Amarillo Museum of Art, Amarillo Zoo and coming soon…The Amarillo Sod Poodles double-A baseball team!

  • The Rod Schroder Education Support Center is 17 minutes (13.8 miles) on I-40 west. Caprock HS is 14 minutes (7.8 miles) on I-40 west.
     
When exiting the airport:
  • Follow signs for I-40 West
  • Continue  on I-40 West for 7.8 miles
  • Exit 72B onto Grand Street south
  • Continue  on Grand Street south to 34th turning back west
  • Caprock High School will be on your right

Driving and Parking Information

There is construction on overpasses along Interstate 40.  Be mindful of closed exits.
Parking around the campus is located on front, east and west sides.  Parking is also available across the street near the tennis courts and softball field.
